The Primaries! Mixing Oil Paint Classes in October or November
with Steve BonDurant
With warm primaries (cadmium yellow, cadmium red deep, and phthalo blue),their cool counterparts (cadmium lemon, rose madder genuine or alizarin crimson, and French ultramarine), plus a couple of convenience colors (yellow ochre, cadmium orange,) and titanium white, you can make any color you need to make a cohesive painting. The Gruppé palette is simple and limited, and is effective for many accomplished landscape painters. This mixing class will contribute to color sense and value range, making fabulous browns and greens from scratch, and confidence about taming chroma and seeking the look of an honest painting. Worksheets on card stock will be provided the day of the class, and a complete materials list follows.
