Luminous Layers with Pat Tribastone
In this class we’ll take a step back in time and learn how the Old Masters used layers and glazing to achieve those rich deep colors. Painting in layers allows the artist to slow down and achieve remarkable results. We will work on one painting throughout the five-week class, starting with an underpainting and working our way to completion with layers and glazing. You will learn about how to apply the layers, how to glaze, and what pigments and mediums to use.
THURSDAYS Nov. 7, 14, 21, Dec. 5, 12, 19 6:30 – 9:00 pm | $135

Plein Air Painting Workshop with Steve Bondurant: This two-day weekend workshop is for artists of all skill levels, studio and plein air painters alike, and begins with a demonstration in oils. Steve will convey his steps in the process of developing a painting, from a thumbnail sketch, oil sketch on canvas panel, followed by a warm complimentary underpainting, and finally the overpainting with the “real color”. After the demo and a break for lunch (brought brown bag), participants will have the opportunity to create a painting, using the methods demonstrated. Participants can use oils or acrylics. Painting will continue through the afternoon, with individual instruction as painters develop their paintings. Limited to 9 attendees.
